Today, my husband told me that he's letting his mother move in with us. He told her it was alright without even consulting me first. I hate my mother-in-law so much that I'm contemplating divorce rather than living with her. FML

Today, I can no longer tolerate my mother-in-law. She's not a bad person, but anytime she opens her mouth it is only to criticize, chastise, scold, or blame me. My husband is too terrified of her to ask her to leave our home. FML

Today, my mother-in-law yelled from across the house for me to come quickly. She sounded frantic, so I rushed and asked what was wrong. She said, "Nothing." and that she just wanted to remind me that she hates my guts. She'll be living here with me and my wife for the next two months. FML

Today, my husband refused to let my mother move in with us. He said he’d rather buy her another house than let her move in, then he actually threatened divorce before he’d let her move in. He’s never been this stubborn before about anything. I don’t get it. FML

Today, I found out that my unemployed and very needy mother-in-law will be moving in with us soon. And during my conversation on the phone with her, she expects us to buy a house and my wife and I can "live with her." My wife agrees with all of this. FML

Today, my mother-in-maw informed us that she sold her house and is moving in with us so we'll "take care" of her in old age. She's in perfect health. We've only been married for 4 months. My wife can't stand her for more than 2 weeks at a time, let alone living with us. FML

Today, my boyfriend's mother told me she had fantasies about throwing him out a window when he was a baby because she was so depressed and couldn't handle the stress. The worst part is he wants to get married. She'd be my mother-in-law. FML

Today, my husband wants a divorce and will be moving out as soon as possible because he can’t stand my mother anymore. He's tired of pushing me to stand up to her, even once, so he's done and is leaving. I’m upset he’s leaving, but I’m equally as upset he’s leaving me alone with my mother. FML

I feel like most ppl who are calling the OP overreacting or saying this is petty matter are probably younger or never been married. Having another person live with you is a huge deal, let alone it's someone you hate. Until uve had the experience in dealing with a douche in law, then judge. Id be pissed at the husband too if I were the OP.

I don't think the OP is overreacting at ALL. I once dated a guy, DATED not engaged/married and his mother was so batshit she went on and on to him about how I wasn't good enough and fat/ugly/etc. It's unfortunate, but not unusual for mothers to be complete ***** to the woman their son is with.

Two words...grow up. What would you do if the tables were turned and you moved your mother in? You'd expect him to shut up and deal with it so you should do the same not jump straight to divorce.

If you truly loved your husband, you would put up with his mother and the rest of his family just to make him happy. Divorce him so he can find a good woman.
