Today, my Jewish boyfriend came over for my extended family's Easter party. My grandmother made fun of him for being Jewish so badly, that he left, crying. She doesn't see what she did wrong. FML

I believe in respecting my elders, however is this situation I would have pulled my grandmother aside at the very first comment she made. I would have told her apologize and to change the subject and that if she continued WE would be leaving. Your boyfriend is a guest and should be treated with respect. I know family is important but there are lines you just dont cross. I can't believe you let the insults continue to the point he was crying. It's your family and you needed to have controlled the situation.

Your grandma's a bitch. That's so horrible. Hopefully you'll be able to patch things up with your bf.

Why must Easter always be a time for bashing Jews.

Religion-based bigotry sucks. She's making a kid cry because he doesn't have the same imaginary friend as her. Ridiculous.

Why? If you believe it then the opinions of others should not matter to you. If the opinions of others do matter to you and you believe it defend it don't just cry about it that makes it fun to mess with you about.

It's true, 83, that the opinions of others shouldn't have an effect on what you believe in, but it's also true that nobody should have to endure being personally attacked. You can stand strong in your beliefs but also be vulnerable to being insulted because of those beliefs. That's terrible, OP. I hope you apologized on her behalf and told Granny that her behavior was entirely unacceptable. I don't care how old you are, it doesn't give you the right to verbally abuse.

You should tell grandma he proposed and you said yes and are converting to the Jewish faith see if that stops her heart

Just because they are men doesn't mean that they don't have feelings. There are many men that are sensitive to what people say / do / think about things that mean something to them. And being sensitive doesn't make you gay, it just means you are comfortable with sharing your feelings.

My wife is Jewish & so is her 84-year old grandmother who for a time was a prisoner at Auschwitz. Right, so, granny fight?

There must not have been enough candy at the Easter party. She could've chewed it over with Twix, or rebooted her morals with a Snickers bar.
