Same here. I always knew the stories of Santa, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy and all of those, but my parents never lied to me about them being real and bringing me presents. That saved me not only the disappointment of finding out later they didn't exist, but also saved both me and my parents the headache and annoyance of having a kid ask for gifts they parents can't give believing Santa will give them anything if they are good enough and then being sad and heartbroken when "Santa" is too broke for that. Also helped a lot with my understanding of money as a child, and thanks to that my parents never had their kids screaming at a store because they wanted expensive things they couldn't buy.

Exactly, when I have kids, I won't tell them Santa clause and etc are real. You make them believe something and then smash their belief into pieces later on, I don't know what is more cruel.
