Today, my manager gave me hell for leaving the restaurant early yesterday. Guilty as charged, but only because I was rushed to the hospital after going into diabetic shock. This assmunch is convinced that I either faked it all to get off work early, or that I'd been eating our own stock. FML

I know your pain OP. One time I was in the middle of a test when my blood sugar dropped so low that I could hardly stand up, but my teachers refused to let me go get something to eat. Then they failed me and tried to have me suspended for "causing a scene" after I passed out. Not many people understand how serious diabetes can be. Sorry OP, I would report the manager to HR and see what they can do

Your manager is the ultimate douchebag.

Your manager is definitely not smart enough for his position. Many people are not well informed on diabetes which is a serious and common disease. Take it up to HR and the lawyers!!

What a prick. My father has diabetes and has to give himself shots twice a day. He's had scares where his blood sugar drops dangerously in the middle of the night and I have to find him something to eat. I'm always afraid he'll be to weak to yell for me to please wake up and help. I'd be hella pissed with your douche boss.

Why wouldn't your father keep something handy nearby? Like a piece of candy on the nightstand for just in case of a drop?

yes, FYL. my boss accused me of faking my MS and wanted me to blow him to prove I wasn't.

59: I hope your next reaction was to blow the **** outta that place of employment, or straight to HR.

I don't have diabetes but my mom does, but her coworkers forget she's a diabetic and I have had to rush to her work numerous times to bring her something that has sugar because apparently people don't see the signs, and while this would be an acceptional excuse normally, she's a nurse and works with multiple doctors.

I feel you. I have reactive hypoglycemia because of a medication I am on and my boss makes fun of me for "eating too often"

Wow. A similar thing happened to my dad a few weeks ago. He got taken to the hospital for Major heart problems and he got a deduction on his paycheck. His job is what puts food on our table and keeps us living under a roof.

My diabetic boyfriend is having something similar happen to him at work. His supervisor is telling him he "takes too many bathroom breaks" and is threatening to lock the restrooms. Plus is supervisor doesn't believe anything about diabetic laws
