Today, my manager gave me hell for leaving the restaurant early yesterday. Guilty as charged, but only because I was rushed to the hospital after going into diabetic shock. This assmunch is convinced that I either faked it all to get off work early, or that I'd been eating our own stock. FML

I know your pain OP. One time I was in the middle of a test when my blood sugar dropped so low that I could hardly stand up, but my teachers refused to let me go get something to eat. Then they failed me and tried to have me suspended for "causing a scene" after I passed out. Not many people understand how serious diabetes can be. Sorry OP, I would report the manager to HR and see what they can do

Your manager is the ultimate douchebag.

Um, I believe that this occurs when you take your insulin but don't eat enough. So had you eaten his stock then it wouldn't have happened. Your boss needs to be dealt with. It's not hard for him to do a quick google search and get the facts before being a huge douche!

Depending on the type of diabetes (hypoglycemic or hyperglycemic) it could happen from eating too much and not taking enough insulin. It is more common for low blood sugar to cause shock though, because it can drop before you know it, while with high blood sugar, you can usually tell before it gets to that point.

If you work for a large company then lay a complaint, if it's a small company then get in contact with a fair work ombudsman, that shit's not on

You need to bring a doctors note if they continue being an asshat. Prayers going your way!

That's horrible. Hope you are ok OP.

As a diabetic - **** him! And you should be protected under the disability act. Diabetes is classed as a disability for work in most countries.

Introduce your manager to "the Americans with disabilities act".
