Today, my mother-in-law grounded me because I went to the store in the "dangerous" rain. My husband says that if I don't obey then we won't work out. FML

Today, my normally very modest and prissy mom came home, pissed off about something. I asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn't say, and snapped at me to "fuck off". She then grounded me for "making" her use that kind of "vile language". FML

Today, I was grounded for not agreeing with an article on dating my mom found in a very strict magazine. The article told parents to monitor phone calls, make rumors about their children cheating on people and not allow their children anywhere but home. FML

Today, my mother asked me if my boyfriend and I were getting serious. I quickly lied and said no. She then informed me that if things ever heated up, she would take me to get birth control. Wanting birth control, I confessed. In turn she grounded me. I'm not allowed to see my boyfriend anymore. FML

@Monika My comment got moded because... well apparently "brown" is racist. Never mind that I myself am brown but anyways, I was responding to MQ's post about how most South Asian (aka brown, aka desi) newlyweds end up living with the groom's mother who is usually very controlling and judgmental. So yes, poor brown people indeed. I don't mean poor as in poverty stricken...

This needs to be your wake-up call about that family. If you don't get out now, you'll be under their thumb. I agree with #296. It is time to cut this off, absolutely and cleanly. It needs to be over, no more chances or time to work on it. These people are crazy and IMO evil.
