Today, my mother-in-law grounded me because I went to the store in the "dangerous" rain. My husband says that if I don't obey then we won't work out. FML

Today, my normally very modest and prissy mom came home, pissed off about something. I asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn't say, and snapped at me to "fuck off". She then grounded me for "making" her use that kind of "vile language". FML

Today, I was grounded for not agreeing with an article on dating my mom found in a very strict magazine. The article told parents to monitor phone calls, make rumors about their children cheating on people and not allow their children anywhere but home. FML

Today, my mother asked me if my boyfriend and I were getting serious. I quickly lied and said no. She then informed me that if things ever heated up, she would take me to get birth control. Wanting birth control, I confessed. In turn she grounded me. I'm not allowed to see my boyfriend anymore. FML

To put things more eloquently: you're a grown woman, can make your own choices and ergo shouldn't have to listen to your mother-in-law (not your mom, who you'd likely respect more anyway); you've likely driven long enough and well enough to make the "dangerous rain" less of a factor than mom-in-law is thinking; and the fact that your husband thinks you "won't work out" if you submit to these illogical arguements is just a bad sign.
