Today, my mother informed me that we are no longer taking my graduation trip to New York. Instead, she and her group of continuously drunk friends are going to Vegas because, "We could win the jackpot and take you on an even bigger trip to New York!" She's never won anything in her whole life. FML

I'm sorry OP. That must hurt. It's sad that your mother seems to be prioritizing having fun with her friends over holding her promise. Funny part I feel like she knows it's messed up but is trying to justify it in her head by thinking she could win it big and make it up to you. Maybe you could get a group of friends together who could all chip in and ya'll could go together instead. It might even be more fun that way anyway
