Today, my parents finally fulfilled my childhood dream and got a puppy, after years of me nagging at them. The only downside is that I no longer live at home and he's not mine. FML

Just a little secret, parents aren't supposed to grant you your every wish and desire, maybe they didn't want to take care of you and your dog. You're an adult now get your own and see firsthand how much work caring for another living creature can be.

Your parents weren't required to buy you a dog when you were a kid, and if you nagged them incessantly about it, I doubt you helped your case.
