Today, my parents held an intervention for me. Apparently they think I'm turning into a goth. All because they saw me re-lacing my shoes with black shoelaces instead of white ones. FML

That's ridiculous, black shoelaces look better than white ones (I think). But I didn't know that shoelace-color had anything to do with being gothic :/

gothics are not to be feared it's the emo freaks that should scare you, unless you find one that isn't completly suicidal. my point is emos and goths aren't really the children of the devil as my own parents put it, but just a simple lide style some kids choose.

Emo means emotional. basically the definition of suicidal. The words get so muddied in today's language, but the word means having severe emotional problems and how most of these people deal with it is self mutilation.

There is a difference between having emotions and being emotional. Yes everyone has emotions but not everyone is emotional having feelings and being a whiny little brat are two completely different things.

It's a stereotype that Goths worship the devil; likely why OP's parents threw an intervention. Any over-reactive Christian parents would probably do that.

My red converse have one white shoelace and a black shoelace. Does that make me emo? Your parents are streotypical. Now, if you were wearing combat boots, and those black pants that can fit 5 people in them, then maaaybe you're goth. Just maybe.

I haven't seen an actual goth kid wear those ugly pants. Most of the ones I know don't buy mainstream clothes.

Goth stereotypes are really off. I'm goth, and most of my friends are too. We're all devote Christians, and we're friendly. OP holding an intervention just for shoe laces? That's just foolish, but at least your parents worry and care about you enough to freak out when you do something that's out of character.
