Today, my second roommate in less then a week got a DUI. Both roommates are demanding that I drive them around for free until they get their licenses back, or else they won't have the funds to pay their rent. FML

how did they have the funds to keep their cars going if they can't afford to throw you some gas money and pay rent? F your room mates I say.

They should just walk. Oh, it's too far? They should have thought about that before they basically tried to kill someone. As far as I'm concerned anyone who gets behind the wheel drunk is intentionally trying to kill someone, because they know it's what's likely to happen. If they can't afford rent, kick them out. They deserve to be homeless for what they did. I may just be bitter because my grandfather was killed by a drunk driver, but really driving drunk is attempted murder on everyone in the surrounding area as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed. And if you do hit someone, should be written up as attempted murder, and if you kill someone while driving drunk, then it should be first degree murder.

Intentional? First degree? Get a grip on reality. Drunk driving is reprehensible and you can protest for a stronger sentencing, but it doesn't mean you're aiming to kill people. Don't make it something it isn't and your case will be stronger.

Some states are switching it from vehicular manslaughter to 1st degree murder. He's not making it something it isn't, when actually, he has a pretty strong argument. There is no excuse to be unaware of the dangers of drinking and driving.

"As far as I'm concerned anyone who gets behind the wheel drunk is intentionally trying to kill someone, because they know it's what's likely to happen" seriously? thats whats LIKELY to happen? oh **** off. its MORE likely to happen, nothing further. youre talking out your ass. its manslaughter at best, murder implies an intent. people drink drive because they believe theyre good enough to do it and both get away with it and do it successfully. nobody is intentionally trying to kill anyone, so its manslaughter. thumb me down all you want. we both know im right, youre just too stupid to admit it. for reference, i hate all drunk people, not just those behind the wheel. i dont tolerate drink driving, but im not going to just spout a load of bullshit about it either.

If you fired a gun with just one bullet and the rest empty into a crowd and only shot once, and it happened to kill someone, that would be murder. If it was the bullet and it missed or hit someone but didn't kill them it would be attempted murder. Even if the bullet didn't come out, that should still be attempted murder. I don't see how driving drunk is any different from that scenario. I don't have anything against drinking, but there are so many alternatives to driving yourself nowadays that there is no conceivable excuse for anyone to drive drunk. My city has buses, and in my area there's a thing called Emergency Ride Home that you can call if you're drunk or your ride is drunk. Even if you're in an area without things like that, just take turns among your friends being designated driver, call a taxi, or drink at home.

...wow with a response like that i regret saying anything. i refuse to argue with someone who believes firing a bullet into a crowd is the equivalent of driving a car intoxicated. goodluck finding common sense. goodbye.

BULL! If they can afford to run their cars, they can use that money for public transport for some of their travels AND to help you run your car while you are helping them!

aww that's too bad...it looks heaps good on you ,^_^,

you need new room mates cause the ones you have now are losers...

if it were possible, id have the locks changed and one key made, which would be in your possession

That's weird. They say if they give you money for gas they wont be able to afford rent? If that's the case how did they drive in the first place? Did they magically have fuel always in their car? They are just lying, they have the money they are just using that excuse to keep more money to themselves.

Wowwww. You need to move out and get new roomates. Or make them stop drinking!! haha ;)
