Today, my son turned 8. We watched as he unwrapped a $55 Nerf gun, extra 'bullets', new shoes and a school bag with his favorite TV character on the front and a action figure inside. As he finished he looked me straight in the eyes and says, "That's great ma, but seriously what'd you get me?". FML

Your monster that You have created with Your lazy solution to parenting when he grows up!!Seriously, deal with Your kid by discipline! And that don't mean it's ok to hit him people!Hes only 5..he's not a prick or ungrateful. He apparently hasn't been taught better.Think before You speak,Dumb Asses!!

ungrateful kids these days , and sorry but ydi for buying that much stuff for an 8 year .

-Toy -Shirt -Bookbag You were deprived as a child.

YDI for buying your kid school stuff & essentials for their Birthday! Try more than 1 toy next time!

#309, you seem like an ungreatful jerk. 8 year olds (or any age children) don't need more than one toy, especially when it costs $55.

That's when you take all the stuff back and have him watch you donate it to the Salvation Army. He'll learn to be grateful next time!

If i ever said anything like that when i was a kid, i wouldnt of gotten anything except a possible beating lol. Little kids today get away with way too much.

take it all back! I never got more than one thing for my birthday and the value was about $50. I think kids expect way too much these days! When I was 13, all i got was a backpack. I didn't complain cuz it was cool looking.

for all the people suggesting OP and other parents should abouse their child, you are what is wrong in this world. It is never ok to slap your child in the face, hit them in any way, hurt them, even spank them. It may "work" but is sending the wrong messages to our children. The messages you are sending is that its ok to hit others. And there are far better ways to discipline children. They work a lot better if used properly. It just takes time and effort. Keep calm and talk to your children, explain why the behaviour is wrong. Parent your children. Take this opportunity to show him that other children in other parts of the world, and even locally, have way less. Teach him how to be greatful, or take away his "wants" and only provide his needs for a while. He will whine and complain, but he will get it.
