I had the same thing happen to me once, except it was a different story, and they thought I was suicidal (which I wasn't.) Good luck with the competition! Some people just don't seem to get that although your characters/story may be dark, depressed or maybe even on drugs, it doesn't mean that you are! Imagination has no bounds, it doesn't make you sick in the head because you wrote a massive psychological piece from the viewpoint of a killer, it doesn't reflect your personality in anyway.
