Today, my telephone line was hit by lightning. I discovered that not only will lightning fry a router, it will also destroy any PCs connected to that router via network cables. I also discovered that a $10 phone line surge protector would have saved nearly $3,000 worth of PC equipment. FML

How can one not know that? I've never sold a PC without explaining the benefits of a good surge protector...but even without one, who keeps there computer on during a lightning storm?

I have a 3000€ computer and I use a wired connection because it's more stable and faster. Do you even know anything about computers?

.... Why were you using your computer when there was lightning? And always throw in the extra couple bucks. You seriously never know what'll happen.

You can always unplug the computer and router during a lightning storm. We do that here...works fantastically. YDI

I know right OP? Mother nature must die! So we can't have any more plants. and with out plants there would be no fruits or vegetables. There would also be no more trees so no more oxygen. We wouldn't have meat because the animals can't eat anything if nothing grows because there's no rain!! I agree with your name OP >=D
