Today, my therapist told me that I need to do something different with my hair. Then I paid her. FML

are you sure she didn't just say "try new things to boost your confidence, like getting a new hair style"? is that what she said OP? are you just trying to get attention OP? you're obviously not paying her enough.

Why don't you just lay back on my couch and tell me how that makes you feel.

I read in a health magazine once where they did a study on hair and your mood .women who liked their hair tended to feel happier and better about their over all appearance compared to the ones who disliked it. I think she was trying to help and maybe you took it the wrong way .

i had a therapist once. i only had one visit. my mom made me not go back cause we spent the whole hour talking about anime XD

Was that really all she told you during the whole session? Probably not, no?

The rapist told you to get a new hairstyle? doesn't seem safe.

I don't see the problem here. Your therapist recommended something simple that would help to make you feel better about yourself. Why wouldn't you pay them for that? That's pretty much the job description - listen to your shit, provide insight, and suggest confidence boosters when necessary. If you need something more than that, move out of general therapy and counseling into psychiatry.

Instead of paying for therapy why not go out and get pissed and chat with mates? That's how we roll in the UK :p

That seems like helpful advice to me.

I'm thinking this is a paraphrased version of a therapist suggesting someone make a change to help enhance self-esteem.

now what is an 8 year old doing on FML?? do you even know what FML stands for?

Crime to not pay like a dine and dash

What did you want her to do? Tell you that you are perfect and let you keep doing the things that sent you to therapy in the first place. Doing something different is almost always the first thing they suggest and they usually start with simple things that you can undo if it does not work out - like changing your hair. YDI for being one of those people who think therapy is just a place to go and get told you are perfect.
