Both my parent have dark brown hair, my brother has bright reddish orange hair. There's no doubt that he's my father's son. It's definitely possible! Recessive genes are are complicated, but your situation is possible for sure.
Um, maybe his wife was done by a ginger? I'm ginger though :D
Recessive genes. My entire family has blue eyes, I have hazel, for example. It happens.
It's possible for hair color to change as an infant I was a born with blonde hair but now have black hair
Has anyone in either family ever had red hair? If yes, it's entirely possible that the child is indeed yours. If no, she cheated.
Red hair is a recessive gene, which means that it is only expressed if you receive that gene from both parents. Just because someone has blond hair doesn't mean that they don't have a red hair gene, it just means that they don't express it. If both partners have a recessive red hair gene and a dominant blond hair gene, there is a 1/4 chance that the child will have red hair. I do not know the OP or his wife's genome, but the child having red hair does not in itself prove that the OP's wife cheated in him. OP, if you are suspicious of cheating, you could have a paternity test done, which is incredibly more accurate than hair colour.
