Blond hair is a recessive gene. It's impossible to have anything but a blond kid if the parents are both blond. OP is right. . . All of the people who say OP doesn't know anything about science, please go back to seventh grade.
The problem is that blond hair is also recessive, just like having red hair. In order to show a recessive gene, you must have two copies of it and your body only has room for two copies of the same 'type' of gene, meaning that two blond parents can ONLY produce a blond child. Unless one of you is a mutant. In fact, I don't understand how a truly blond mother could produce redheaded child at all, because she would need to carry at least one redhair gene in order to give one to her child, which would make her a strawberry blonde, not a true blonde. Or the child could be a mutant. Research "somatic mutation dog". It's possible that the hair only has a temporary reddish tint that will fade with time because of unusual conditions in the womb, a medical condition of the mother or fetus, or medication given during pregnancy. Puppies and kittens can be born with green fur if they are exposed to their own meconium while in the womb. In human babies, this can turn their fingernails yellow, their umbilical cord dark green, make the vernix caseosa (white paste covering skin) be yellowish brown, and have jaundice (yellowish) skin. Adults hair can fade to red due to prolonged malnourishment. Even consuming pigment-rich food and drinks (seaweed, dyed drinks) or herbal supplements can have significant and unexpected effects on the human body. Does either of your families have a history of multiple births (twins, triples, etc) or were either of you conceived using in vitro fertilization? Are either of you left-handed? (Google "left handed people are twins") It is possible for one developing fetus to absorb its twin and have the GENES of the silent/dead twin develop inside the body of the living twin and so one or a few organs can genetically belong to a brother or sister that was never *really* born. See "genetic chimera". Once a woman nearly had her children taken away (during a divorce) because DNA tests said she was the kids' aunt, not mother; turns out she was a chimera and her ovaries had the DNA of her absorbed twin sister. A rapist nearly got away with his crime because the DNA of his blood told the lab techs that he was a brother of the sperm he left on his victim. On another note, while it is possible for one developing fetus to absorb its twin and have the GENES of the silent/dead twin develop inside the body of the living twin, it is also possible for one developing fetus to absorb its twin and have the (dead) fetal BODY of the silent/dead twin develop inside the body of the living twin; see "fetus in fetu".

my husband has dark brown hair and hazel eyes. I have blonde hair and blue eyes. our daughter has red hair and blue eyes. she's 2 1/2 now, so it's not just newborn fuzz. karma for him saying he "would never have a freaky little ginger" when I ran our pictures through a baby generator for fun and they all came out redheads.
