Today, my wife and I were planning our nursery for our future child. She said that we'd be painting it pink either way. I asked what would happen if we had a boy. She said "Oh, he'll be gay" with a menacing glare. I'm worried. FML

Look on the bright side, if the kid turns out to be a boy and if he becomes gay at least he has an accepting mother.

YDI for not standing up to your wife. You're acting like her bitch. Go with a neutral color...or wait until you find out the sex of the baby.

Everyone knows , shes kidding . All wives and moms , do that shit . Theres no way she would do that .

I really want the OP to follow up this story in like 15 years if they have a boy... I want to hear about the argument the wife and son get into because she wants him to be gay and he isn't. Some people are so stupid it scares me. Or hey, maybe he really will be gay and the OP is psychic.

I did exactly the same thing except when looking at babies clothes I just say "I want a little girl to dress her up in the little cute dresses!!!!! even if it's a boy I'm still going to dress him up in cute little dresses cos I want him to be gay!!"

ok i am not racist against gays at all honestly i have heaps of gay friends and the profession that im in encourages heaps of support for the gay community but i have to be honest.. i would never be able to accept if one of my future children turned gay. i dont care what any of you say because it would be hard on any of you. i doubt someone would say "oh thats wonderful darling, good for you!" you all tease people about being gay so no one should try to hide it. just the way certain people have been raised teaches them that being gay is wrong and thats the way i feel too. just my opinion and who am i to judge? i would never try to change anyone and its not about being a homophobe.. its just personal preference.. good luck op

First off, homosexuality is not a race. Therefore you cannot be racist against a homosexual. You can be a bigot or prejudice but you cannot be racist.

second of all, why would it be hard? I don't get it. if my son brings home a boyfriend, I'll be happy for him. I dont understand what the big deal is. love isn't about the gender, it's about the person.

first of all it is impossible to be racist against gays as it is your sexual preferance, you are still caucasion/black/asian etc whether gay or straight, that is your race. Second you cannot start out by saying you have no problem with them and end up saying you do and thats your preferance. You have a problem with them, maybe only in your subconcous but it is there. and to everyone come on people a pink room will not make a gay boy and a blue room will not make a lesbian. "gendered" colors are culture specific and often change, throughout history and even currently there are cultures that believe pink is a masculine color.

Lol that's actually really funny. I knew from the time I found out I was having a baby that it was a girl. Mother's intuition I guess. Maybe OP's wife just knows. I totally would have done that if I had had a nursery to paint for my daughter lol

It's not like having a pink room would even have anything to do with him being a gay man when he grows up. I'm sure she was joking, and you probably paniced a bit because you have issues with really having a gay child. A whole bunch of guys wear pink now anyway, it's not like they're all homosexual because of it. Come on, it's a damn colour. Maybe you should grow up a bit, and realize that looking at a colour doesnt control your sexuality.

Read the words to the song "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash. He'll be tougher for it.

bro, she is messed up. I have nothing against gay people, seeing as I am gay. but she's got issues. you don't decide a child's sexuality for them. most likely, if it is a boy, it won't be gay and you'll have a miserable boy in a pink room.
