Today, our family dog died. A couple of hours after the death, my mother-in-law slapped my crying five year old son over the head and told him to "Man up." She totally refuses to admit she did anything wrong. FML

WittyMoron tells us more.

I told my wife that was completely unacceptable, and as some people said, I took the high road in not slapping her back. I began an argument with my wife about it, and it got a bit intense. I told her that her mother could not come back, and she got quite angry. I went into the living room and began to cry. This is what gets me. What she did taught him the wrong thing. My son came in, said "Man up, daddy!" and tried to slap me, but he's little so it didn't hurt. But anyway, I got even more furious that he had learnt something from it. The argument ensued. Things are a bit cold. Sleeping on the sofa now but I told my son it's okay to be upset. Buried the dog, and needless to say my MIL is not invited back for a little while.

I would cut her out of my life and might have ended up in jail. NO one slaps my child and gets away with it.

It's just a dog. They're insignificant to humans

umm dogs are significant to humans , the only people who dont think they are ;are heartless people like you!

This might be down voted, but I wouldn't have let my kid (if I had one), or any kid for that matter, anywhere near someone who would slap them! No matter who they are! That is in no way acceptable and she is a horrible human being!

If someone slapped my kid I would never allow them around my family again. Doesn't matter if they're a relative.

That bitch would get a firm back hand and told to get the hell out of our lives, and don't bother coming back. She wouldn't be seeing her grandkid again. What a frigging ****.

I would give her a good bitch-slap just for hitting the kid.

If anyone ever touched my son like that I would have smacked them back. A lady at the bus stopped touched my son on his face today and spoke to him in a different language and he looked at me and I brushed her hand away and said don't touch him. I don't let people touch my kid ever.

#102, how is #99 rude? I would have done the same thing if a stranger touched my child.

I would've probably kicked her in the **** and said "woman up"
