cyb3rbyte tells us more.
I did get it resolved as we have a police officer in the parking lot before and after school. He vouched for me as he saw the guy doing the burnouts through his windshield. Thanks for the comments!

Definitely take it to the higher ups, that lack of evidence shouldn't have you in detention just because of similar looks. Goodluck!
**** that. Fight that OP. They can't punish you on the grounds if having the same/similar car!
That really can ride on your condition of your tires...depending on how many they did and how warn down they are...
you woudnt happen to go to ollin would you
First, demand to talk to a youth advocated or equivalent that has no bias on the event and make an appointment with your school districts head of the school board. Second, review your school's student handbook and see if there is a maximum duration for which detention can be given on a single behavioral issue, so that if there is, you can open the meeting with the head of the school board by asking why it was exceeded- also point out that school punishments are supposed to teach a lesson and that detention has no connection to vandalizing school property. Schools in many states are also required to give a student a chance to dispute allegations as well as the punishment given, and it sounds like they gave you neither.
Third, you (and your parents) need to demand that the school put forth an actual investigation instead of half assedly pointing the finger at you. This means reviewing camera footage, comparing the skidmarks to your tires, comparing the wear on your tires to that which would be caused by the burnout, comparing the damage to your clutch to that which would be caused by the burnout, have witnesses give an account for your presence when they were made and if the school was locked at the time or if you were even on campus that day, make a list of students and staff that own vehicles similar to yours and ask why you were the one chosen.
Fourth, if the school refuses to do a more thorough investigation tell them you will be arranging a meeting with a lawyer about it. Fifth, if all else fails, go to the school board and transfer schools if possible. I suggest reading a hand hide on school punishments to get some help- if you go to public school, your ancestors paid for that school to be established and your parents are still paying for it to be run, and if it's a private school, they are straight up funding the school.
Don't take it lying down if they refuse to budge- start a fuss! Make a Facebook page, start a petition, rally a crowd, make sure everybody in town knows that it might have been you this time, but it could be them or their kid the next! If you let them pin you with it this time, they'll start trying to pin you with everything they can't get a solid culprit for. Don't let them!
Were there security cameras? Get the car's license plate number and prove it isn't yours.
I think you should clear your name... This thing might go on your record and follow you forever
The way they so quickly pegged you, it might have been a teacher's kid and they're trying to cover for it. That's all I've got, we didn't really care about this kind of stuff at my high school. Gravel parking lot. And the pool of suspects was to small, 30-40 students probably drove when I went to school. We also didn't have cameras.
Bro... New Braunfels high school..? And bro bring your parents in. I promise you if you bring the law down on that school or even threaten they run scared. I've seen it from my friends. He got a head injury and opted out of a big week of tests. They made him do it when he got back and boom his mom stepped in threaten the school and he coasted through sophomore year and barely even did his work or went to school

Your school needs to work on its justice system
Just find the other person with the same-looking car as you and ask why they weren't a suspect
