Been there.
D;
wow awkward!!!!!! how funny u guys didn't now that well at least it's long distance it could be worse right!!
"this has become less about FML and more about spelling and grammar...." Uh....grammar matters, because without it, meanings are unclear. Was it a distant cousin by blood or by distance? Poor word choice makes those details impossible to figure out.
You know, there are many families (like mine) that are so large that all of the living family members have yet to meet. I have a large bunch of relatives in South America and in England, I've never met them, have never seen a picture of them. The only real contact would be over the phone, but even that's a rare thing. My point is, if I were to run into any of these relatives in a place that was not some sort of family function, I would have no idea that person was related to me.
I see a Porno in the works here. But hey go for it. if it makes you two happy.

Keep it in the family I suppose.
It sounds like you're not related by blood, so I don't see it as that big a deal. From what it seems, one of your parent's sisters married a man whose sibling is your boyfriend's mom or dad. Bizarre situation, but if that's the case, it's hardly incestual.
