I think he used the height thing as an excuse for something else. Either he is nervous to ruin whatever you to have had for the last 8 years by keeping the relationship going or he sacrificed your friendship by breaking up with you with such a silly reason so that you would go on. Either it was a message from him to move or he's ignorant, though the first one seems nicer. Regardless, move on with your life. (though I'm not to talk, going on 6 years. Still just fine.)
