Today, the "Child Care and Development" class at my high school assigned all 50 students to carry a fake baby around school all day for a week. I can't even read a page of my notes without hearing a robotic crying noise. Today is the first day. FML

moral of the story: you only have this baby for a week and it's already driving you nuts. a real one you're stuck with for at least 18 years. DONT HAVE A BABY FOR A VERY VERY LONG TIME. (:

No better birth control than carrying a robotic crying machine around for a week. Kudos to your teachers

things like this really makes me want to get a sex change so then i can stay a hopeless romantic forever..

I got one back in high school, it was for the weekend. The battery of mine died the first night which was a good thing because my brother was ready to throw it out the window.

THIS is an extreme case of baby voice. (flails arms around and cries like a baby)

I just got mine today too! Kill me now.

I never did the "carry an egg/sack of flour/fake baby" thing in high school. I didn't have to. All it took was a little bit of exposure to other peoples' screaming, rambunctious kids and that was enough to make me never want one of my own. I'm 47 and childfree, and happy that way. The only bad part is that I lost nearly all my friends when *they* became parents. A whole bunch of my friends got "baby rabies" in their mid 30-early 40s around 5-10 years ago. Now they no longer had time to socialize. See you when your kids turn 18 and get shipped off to college, I guess.

Agreed. I didn't have to take the class to know that kids are a bitch to raise and just not my cup of tea. What's ironic is that, at my school, the ones who took the class were the ones who ended up getting pregnant and having kids before finishing high school. I guess the class was just a preparation course for them. You'd think the number of teenage pregnancies and births would go down after taking the class, but perhaps the variables aren't that simple.

I had to do that this month. Honestly, it's not even that bad. Toughen up, at least it's not a real baby!
