I'm the only person on the second floor. We have HIGHLY explosive chemicals in the labs on the first floor. I'd rather have a broken leg than blow up and die.

LAW SUIT! SO ******* LAW SUIT! play your cards right and you will own that building.
Sue, emergency exits should always be unlocked, well maintained and unblocked. The fire alarm is a FIRE alarm, i don't blame you, specially if you panic very easy. I would be calling my lawyer the moment i got the pain taken care of... But thats none of my business,
Ouch, Op. I broke my leg a few weeks ago, and it's no fun.
Good luck! I broke my ankle last year. It was hell! Just hang in there and keep yourself distracted somehow when it starts to hurt.
i hope the company pays for the expenses...
I hope you feel better soon.
You can sue your work for the stair door being jammed considering it's a major safety violation, it'll help pay for the hospital bill since you had to jump out of the window, even if it wasn't a real fire it could have been..
The door shouldn't have been jammed and you can sue. But seriously dude. How dumb are you. Assess the situation before doing something that drastic!!
Assess it how? In the event of a fire, you're not supposed to take elevators, and the door to the stairs was jammed, meaning that OP COULDN'T get out of the second floor. For all the OP knew, the building was 1 minute away from exploding. I'd rather have a broken leg than be dead, but that's just me. If you're the kind of person who likes to stay inside of a building when a fire alarm goes off unplanned because you want to "assess the situation", best of luck to you.
#124, if I could super-mega like your comment, I would. Well done.

I think I would have made sure there was clear and present danger before jumping out of a second floor window.
I respect your decision
