I'm the only person on the second floor. We have HIGHLY explosive chemicals in the labs on the first floor. I'd rather have a broken leg than blow up and die.

You should sue.
RYAN STARTED THE FIRE The Office US anyone? no?..
Yassss!!!!!!
It's always the temp.. Always!
This is why we don't panic before we double check the source of the problem. Could have been a test.
Fire alarm tests have to be announced company-wide, if op didn't know about it, he is either blind or was absent for a long time. Any other form of alarm, be it false or true, still has to be followed. And jammed doors (and the lack of an alternative route also) are still a serious issue, even if it were a test.
Ugh. Was* come on OP. It's not a difficult piece of grammar.
In these comments: So many that would burn to death waiting for the fire to come to them
I hope you filed a complaint on the safety hazzard of the doors being jammed...
Workers compensation! The stairs shouldve never been jammed shut. Thats a lawsuit and a valid one.
I always fling myself out windows without verifying the existence of danger. You're an idiot.
if the fire alarm goes off, everyone evacuates. if it's just a drill, you are usually told beforehand. so i don't understand why all these ppl are saying, if the fire alarm goes off, you shouldn't do anything bc it's probably nothing. also, they probably had an emergency window exit. some buildings have them on their second floors. they are clearly labeled, but there isn't a ladder so you would have to jump down.

I think I would have made sure there was clear and present danger before jumping out of a second floor window.
I respect your decision
