headinabag33 tells us more.
Hey...OP here. So in this theatre there are two curtains. The second one (more up stage, away from the audience) has been broken. So we just open both curtains, since the second one never opens. We perform in front of it and it's no big deal. We get some great lighting off it really, and once we had someone stand back there and shake it and looked cool. Someone fixed the second curtain without telling us. The actors were having sex behind the "broken" curtain and it opened. No one told them to stop because they were quiet, and no one wants to tell people to quit having sex... So anyway, there it is.

I finally realize what it means when they say "action" before scenes.
How did the curtains open without checking people were in place? Didn't their make-up/costume people complain about them going missing? Did no one even look at the stage before declaring it ready to open?
^^^^^^THIS!!! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who immediately thought of this.. Who doesn't do that last minute check of everything before the curtains open??
Totally valid questions. You might need a more responsible stage manager, OP.
YES! Thank you! Someone should be fired. That should never have been allowed to happen.
exactly! how were they on the stage with nobody seeing them right before curtain?
I hate to say it but as someone who's grown up around theatre all her life, there's just no way this could happen. Other people would be waiting in the wings, especially the stage manager and other techs, who would be watching the stage intently and making sure everyone is ready. Also, the actors would have been given their call for "places" which means they needed to be in their starting positions, so no one in their right mind would believe they had time for a romp. Also, even the worst stage manager ever would see the stage and know if something was amiss before calling for house curtain. I'll probably get downvoted, and I usually hate when people comment this but I'm calling fake on this one.
Perhaps another actor/actress opened the curtains simply out of spite for them doing that.
Because it wouldn't happen. This is totally fake.
That's what I thought, too.
@#53 Not that I don't agree, but maybe the stage manager knew and let it happen due to personal reasons? Maybe some of the staff didn't like OP? Hell, maybe they're leaving out some details like being a tyrant director? So many unknowns. I'd like to vouch in OP's favor but it is true that the likelihood of that happening is slim to none. Who knows. Maybe he/she will follow up.
And the show must go on?
They were ******* on stage
I hope that wasn't supposed to be a paid performance
Sounds like a sure hit to me!
Their parents must've been so proud.
Sounds like a bad dream. Or a good one...
