Today, the power was out. I tried to explain to my boyfriend that he wouldn't be able to watch any TV until the power came back on. His response was, "But we have Netflix." FML

If he was talking about watching Netflix on a smart phone or a tablet than he might have a point.

Would he really want to watch tv with you rather than do something else while the power is out?

that's actually funny when the power goes out at my family's house we always play chess and other games like checkers and we have a tournament.

Honestly, haven't we all tried to flip a switch or turn something electrical on when we know the power is out. Even if just out of habit? What's that? No one else has...ya me neither. Just kidding...

Seriously! This is not an FML. I feel bad for the boyfriend though, because OP thought it was.

Well, if they have working Internet for some reason they could watch Netflix on their phones/tablets.

Netflix is infinite! Netflix is eternal!

That's what we were saying about Blockbuster...

"Fine. And in that case I have my vibrator."

Don't mess with a woman and her batteries. You know nothing about batteries.

I know batteries keep the Energizer Bunny in business! Like the vibrator he just keeps going and going...

Could still work on a phone or tablet with 3G/4G..but if you have neither of those, then I'm afraid your boyfriend is a little moronic...

Her boyfriend is moronic! Lol. He could be getting laid instead of worrying about what's on stupid Netflix during a power outage. Lol. Good god!

I've watched movies during power failures before. A laptop with a good battery will stay on for close to two hours, and a UPS can keep your VOIP or DSL modem running just fine long enough to download whatever it is you want to watch. Unless there's a break in the phone line that is.

I'm not sure if OP's boyfriend will be able to figure that one out if he's having trouble understanding that Netflix does not work without power.

#40 what I think you missed was that #26 pointed out Netflix DOES work without electricity running . and perhaps the OP's boyfriend knew this. With all the mobile devices these days there are plenty of other ways to do things like Netflix even if the house power is out.

Netflix needs Internet though to run unless he's on a smartphone or tablet that doesn't require wifi/Internet. So if he doesn't have a phone or tablet... No power=no Internet=no Netflix

I don't know why #26 got downvoted. He is smart; he said he would use a UPS (no, not the postal service) which stands for uninterruptible power supply. In essence he would plug his modem and router into a battery and use the internet as normal from a laptop. All of which would work during a power outage.

#47 I think the point you missed that I made is that OP's boyfriend wouldn't be smart enough to figure that out if he doesn't realize without power your wifi (assuming they have wifi) will not work...hence no Netflix.

Looks like the Canadian education system is doing it's job

You fool! Your stereotypical comment has tainted the purity of these threads! What have you to say for yourself?!
