Today, the power was out. I tried to explain to my boyfriend that he wouldn't be able to watch any TV until the power came back on. His response was, "But we have Netflix." FML

I think the powers out in his brain too...

If he was talking about watching Netflix on a smart phone or a tablet than he might have a point.

If your neighbors have a generator.

netflix can't do everything deary

YES IT CAN, NETFLIX DRESSES ME AND MAKES ME BREAKFAST EVERY MORNING. NETFLIX DOES ALL THINGS!

Give him some credit at least he knows you have Netflix right?

Invest in a UPS. We retain power for as long as the UPS can last. So Netflix might be possible...

Maybe OP doesn't live somewhere where power outages are frequent so a UPS would be a waste.

I don't live in such an area either, but shit happens and the UPS is useful.

Good luck making smart babies with him honey

I'm laughing at all the people living in 1999. I've never sat through a power outage and not be able to download, surf the web, watch shows.. or whatever else I want to do. the technology age is amazing and those of you that think OPs boyfriend is stupid need to join us in 2013.

Or everyone who has a million different ideas about how to find a way to watch Netflix during a power outage needs to remember that technology isn't everything. Power outages are the perfect time to spend time with people instead of being constantly plugged into the Internet, tv, etc.

While you do have a point, 58, it doesn't matter. 49 was just making a point that OP's boyfriend isn't as stupid as the post initially leads to believe. Since the post seems to be aimed more at the boyfriend's stupidity than at his unwillingness to spend time with OP, your comment is just a moral assessment that is nearly unrelated to the actual post.

In all fairness, I think everybody has these little brain farts. I had to explain to my grand mother once that we couldn't cook a frozen pizza in the oven because the power was out.

in her defense, our kitchen has a gas range. this means that a loss of electricity ain't no thing, and also when we cook things it smells like a potential house fire all the time. most older gas stoves didn't need electricity, although these days they're electrically ignited. still, a match would fix that for burners. ;) anyway, that's probably her issue. older gas ranges can be used without electricity.
