Today, the toilet on the top floor of my house burst, soaked the bathroom, and water dripped down into the kitchen and the basement for hours when nobody was home. Eight blowers and a dehumidifier later, the house is about 90 degrees and I can't leave. FML

A legitimate FML post if there ever was one. OP, I sincerely hope that most of your belongings weren't completely damaged beyond repair and that you can get all of the water up soon before more damage is done. FYL. FYL. FYL. FYL. FYL. FYL. And again, FYL!

good for the pores and hell I'd be running around naked

Ok, first it's an apartment because houses arent built on top of each other. And second, now that u know what an apt is ask the owner to fix it or make arrangements for u to live elsewhere a few days

It cant be a 2 story house?

#56 - you do know that there are such things as multi-storey houses right? OP clearly says 'on the top floor of MY house' .. I'm going with he meant HIS toilet on the top floor of HIS house.

where do you live that all houses are single story and all apartments are multi story?

omg, no joke that happened to me this summer. got up in the morning went too work. Got a call from my dad saying that we now had a waterfall and an indoor pool in the kitchen. Those fans really do suck. I feel your pain.

Count yourself lucky, OP. I work for a restoration company and one job we ended up having to tear out the drywall 4 ft up all the way around house Due to wet insulation. Installed 30 blowers, 3 DeHu's, and 2 air scrubbers. Plus you don't want to NOT have it due to mold. I feel for you, though.

what the hell company do you work for?? 30 air movers, and only 3 dehus? that house would be humid like you wouldn't believe the dehus couldn't keep up with the evaporation the fans are causing. and if you are demoing the whole house 4 feet up, you should probably be using more than 2 air scrubbers. leave the restoration business to the pros.

true. unless it's in a sealed container, in which case it can be superheated past boiling.
