Today, uncertain of having a job next month or being able to pay rent, I'm filling out tens of online surveys a day for gift cards to McDonald's, to buy hamburgers that I can freeze so I will have food for the coming months. FML

Today, my parents accidentally bounced some checks through a miscommunication. They now owe the bank $700 and can't afford groceries, which means we're relying on me, a 17-year-old girl who works at McDonald's 2 days a week, to get us by for the next few weeks. FML

Today, working at McDonald’s, I get lunch money on top of my salary. Well, actually I don’t *get* the money, I can eat the money. No freestyling though, only items that are actually on the menu. I guess my health and my figure won’t be lovin' it. FML

Today, I’m so hungry. My parents only get food for my sister and I’ve been surviving on cheese sticks for the past week. I only have one left. I don’t get paid until next week. I’m so scared I’m gonna faint at the wheel instead of at home, where I’m usually able to sit down and get some water before I do. FML

What good would nasty, frozen burgers do you. If you can't pay rent and get thrown out? Better switch to plan B, and spend your time looking for a better job. Good luck, keep a positive attitude and you will be fine.

As much as I detest McDonalds, this is actually a really smart idea. You're thinking ahead and that kind of mentality should definitely help you find a new job. Good luck!

I understand what 3 was saying, because it would make more sense to buy them as you go you would think. But 3 over time the cards lose value and money therefore you wouldn't be able to get as much later on

Most gift cards these days don't have expiries or lose value over time I think, because its just tacky. Double check the fine print on the back, and if they don't, then definitely buy fresh if you can. Fresh fast food is better than reheated in microwave after months fast food.
