Today, was my first day at my new job in a shop. 10 minutes after my first customer leaves I realize she managed to steal $200 worth of merchandise while she had me getting stuff for her from the back room. FML

Welcome to the wonderful world of customer retail. Hope the boss wasn't hard on you.

this happened to me during my first week of work. some woman stole about 5 pairs of the same jacket, just picked them up and walked out right in front of me and i work at banana republic so each jacket was around $150 -_-

Who cares? You won't get in trouble, and the company is out $200, big deal. not an FML

This is very similar to that beginning scene of Extract.

if I hired you I wouldve fired your ass on the spot in front of the employees and customers!

She obviously wasn't properly trained, so it's managements fault.

That's is a fairly common trick. I would be surprised if your boss didn't warn you about this during orientation/training, otherwise you have no excuse (even if you're a newbie). I hope you have security cameras.

wasn't there anybody else out front? who ever leaves a customer unattended at any time?

It was your first day and you were working the shop solo? Wow

I can't buy this. They put someone new alone in a store that has at least $200 worth of stuff accessable to the customers when the worker needs to leave the counter or store?!? It doesn't add up. Training would have covered this.

i work in a shop too, dont tell anyone when shit like that happens it makes you look bad, and makes it fun when theres an audit

someone did that too my mom before but she didn't get fired so don't worry it's the stores fault anyway for not having a good security system :P
