There needs to be a third option entitled "**** this economy."
That sucks. :( I feel your pain. Hope you have a brighter future.
Do you get commission?
its okay. hotdog stands in jamaica sell weed and make a lot of money, so you could persue that. but your university must not be prestigious since you won't name it. or maybe this is just fake.
haha... you must have majored in English FYL
Some of my friends have the same problem and its rather sad. Instead of going to college to make something out of themselves, they wanted to 'get in get out and get on with their lives' (one of the slogans for a community college). Truth is, they didn't want to try too hard or do anything too difficult and assumed that their degree in paper-pushing would earn then 40-50k/year starting. The problem with doing that is that it shows the unwillingness to adapt to an ever changing work environment. We are no longer in an era that will allow us to learn one set of tasks and do it for a life time. My friends hate when i tell them that my degree is more difficult to obtain than theirs was because I "just dont understand what it takes to get a degree in marketing" but its true. My degree IS harder and I KNOW what it takes to do what they do, hence, i did not go into the field. I chose chemistry because it is something that takes a real intelligence and has a better job outlook, not to mention, I am getting PAID to go to grad school next year (with health care and full tuition reimbursement included). Overall, its a 50-60k/year job while i earn a PhD. Once that is over, my starting salary will be in the 85-120k/year range and thats not going to be too bad of money when I am 27. For those of you who will just call me a nerd and move on...i would say to you "hey, thats OK, i know you're jealous (or mad at yourself for taking up accounting, business management, or art history) because I decided to give myself excellent career opportunities, hit the weight room 3-5 times/week, drink a little too much with my friends from time to time, and have been dating the captain of the gymnastics team for close to a year"
151,egotistical much? I have been to two universities and none had a gymnastics team. It may be because your school is lame or the ones I went to were military colleges and more interested in winning drill competitions and hosting training programs for the National Guard than in "gymnastics". Also believe me if you were/are a chemistry major, you would not have time to post on FML because you'd be too busy with studies...
wow and i thought working at an IT help desk (glorified call centre) after graduating was bad....your story is either fake or your life really sucks:(
Arts Degree? At least you'll learn some real world supply/demand business. Enjoy the experience (Customer Service, Hospitality & Catering) and work out what you want to do longer-term.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up doing something like this with my new shiny Bachelor's degree, too.
At least you have a job.
