Today, we had a speaking assessment in Spanish class. When it was my turn, I yawned in the middle of a sentence, said "excuse me" and finished my sentence. She took points off because I hesitated and I spoke in English, not Spanish. FML

I don't usually use my grammar nazi powers on FML, but this is one of my pet peeves. It's *should have* or *should've* NEVER *should of*

Tell that maestro that you are gonna report her ASAP

It's not like she was abusing her power. It might be some sort of rule she has. When I was learning English, my teacher made it a rule that English was the only language we could speak in her class. I understand the FML though. When you yawn, you're usually going to say "excuse me" in your native language because it's what you're accustomed to.

exactly. When I was taking AP Spanish in high school,.my teacher wouldn't allow us to speak English and if we spoke to her in English she'd ignore us until we corrected ourselves.

Tell others that your teacher taught you not to say excuse me when you yawn.

she didn't though, she docked points for speaking English when in the middle of a Spanish assessment. It actually make sense, any other comment made in English would also have lost points, op simply should have said excuse me in Spanish. Still sucks that it happened, but makes sense.

**** grades. Obviously if u go to a spanish speaking country or are just talking to other spanish speakers, they arent going to think any less of your speaking abilities if you yawn. Grades come & go. Keep practicing and become fluent and your life will not be ******.

It was an exam... Most people care about grades... And you just wrote a long ass paragraph stating the obvious... GTFO brah

everything should have been said in Spanish.

I'm sorry OP but I think that this is both an FYL and a YDI. Most language teachers expect you to speak exclusively in the language you're learning and will take off marks for saying anything in your native tongue. Most teachers also make this rule clear so you should have known. At the same time though you're going to instinctively say something like excuse me in your native language so it's easy to see how you could make that mistake.

It's hot when women speak in Spanish. They could be cursing me out for all I know, and I would still be biting my lip cx

This has literally nothing to do with the FML. Keep your crazy Spanish fantasy's to yourself.

Honest mistake anyone would have done it better luck next time OP
