Today, while at work, a customer refused to speak louder, despite me asking her to do it several times. As a result, I took her order incorrectly. The customer then finally decided to raise her voice, but only to yell at me about my poor listening skills. FML

Next time, repeat the order back to the customer to make sure you heard right. If they get frustrated with you then, at least you can tell your management you were still trying to get the right order.

Stores need to do a way with the "customer is always right" mentality and make the customers take some responsibility. instead of letting them think they can act like entitled brats just because they're customers.

That will never happen. Businesses are in business to make money and with the "customer is always right" policy they tend to keep their customers, earning them more money.

Perhaps, but the business will lose good employees, have to hire subpar ones, and then customers will get irritated with the employees who don't give a shit and take it up with management, who can't do anything. There are actually a lot of examples comparing companies with "the customer is always right" mentality against companies with a mentality that puts their employees first. Companies that treat their employees better have better customer satisfaction, because the employees feel secure in their job, are happier, and genuinely wish to help customers. Just look at the difference between Walmart and Target.

I feel you :(. I work at a deli in a grocery store, the number of people that only point and don't even open their mouths are crazy and super rude
