Today, while at work, a customer refused to speak louder, despite me asking her to do it several times. As a result, I took her order incorrectly. The customer then finally decided to raise her voice, but only to yell at me about my poor listening skills. FML

at my work i wanna put up a "this isnt a library, speak up!" sign, for this reason..

Next time, repeat the order back to the customer to make sure you heard right. If they get frustrated with you then, at least you can tell your management you were still trying to get the right order.

What exactly is a 'citizen' job? As far as I know, we are all citizens to our country and so technically any job one may do is a 'citizen' job. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess by your username that you meant civilian.

Oops. Did not see # 28 there. I am hard of hearing and in my experience. Most customers apologize profusely turn 4 shades of red. But every now and then there will be that a$$hole that don't care about anything other then their idiotic self.

I know how annoying that is, where I work we get plenty of customers who can barely even speak basic English, but will still get angry at you if you can't immediately understand exactly what they want.

In times like these, retail workers should have the right to give out the old slap across the face.

I work fast food drive thru 6 days a week, I fully understand. we have to say we are having problems with the head sets and have them pull to the window and take their order there. if we still can't hear them then we ask if they will speak up. sorry OP

Geez this sounds like a "Not Alwaus Right" post... don't let it bother you OP! There are many types in the world and customer service gets the worst of them.

same thing happened to me a few years back, but when he spoke up he helled "mother ******. did you hear that". so i spat in his food in front of him and quit right after.

U should throw the food on his face after u spat in it

You my friend, deserve a medal. I did the same today, I spit in a customers fries, and I touched the bottom of my shoes and then made her burger, however, she did not know. Oh and I also quit :)

I bet she's one of those people who do that on purpose
