You can't always tell by visual inspection whether or not something is wrong. For instance, I once broke several knuckles, fractured the middle metacarpal, and dislocated two carpals - and all I had to show for it initially was a bit of swelling. It took a week before any bruising was visible, and it was all a light yellow-green - and a lot of that was because no one believed that my hand was actually hurting and kept grabbing it to prove that I was faking. And while faking an ****** is, in all, complete bullshit, you definitely deserve it for being a jackass.
