Today, while working at my retail job, a woman pointed me out to her child and said, "That's why you go to college, so you don't wind up like her." I'm a second year medical student. FML

Give her an extremly detailed spreadsheet on how a funeral is cheaper than surgery when she gets admitted to your hospital.

Seriously ridioulous! Hope her kid winds up a stipper!

hellio, neurosurgery resident here! Medical school is a worse choice than retail. Going into retail and fully avoiding the debt trap of higher education is the best you can do nowadays.

She needs a diagnosis of the reality of many college students...

I hope you corrected her. Also how many fmls have we seen where people have degrees and they're useless. College is a good thing. But it's not a guarantee of anything. You need a good attitude, which this woman clearly doesn't have. Don't let assholes get you down. When you're a doctor, she'll still be a bitter old ****.

All these people who think retail/service staff are "beneath them" would be the first to complain if nobody was working in those jobs...

If a customer came into my place of work and said that, I'd be absolutely fuming. I too am working a minimum wage job while trying to get through college and if I were you, here's what I'd say: "Actually miss, this is only my part-time, temporary job that I'm doing to earn myself a bit of money to support my living whilst at college, but seeing as you're so quick to assume things and give unsolicited advice, I'm going to give you some unsolicited advice. I really hope that instead of teaching your child what she shouldn't be and therefore turning her into a judgemental **** like yourself, teach her to be kind, grateful and compassionate, but also to try her best to succeed and even if she doesn't, that doesn't make her a failure".
