Tough guy

Today, my 12-year-old son was shot in the foot. After hours of not talking, including to the police, he finally told us that his friend accidentally shot him with his dad's gun, and that he didn't want to say anything because he didn't want to "lose any street cred by snitching." FML

He is going down a very bad and dark path. You need to have a serious talk to him and cut this bullshit out fast.

Does he sag his pants? That's one starting sign of being in a gang...

Stars, someone needs to sit all of them down, gun owner included and give them a LONG talk about gun safety, preferably with picture slides. OP's son also needs to be taught that "street cred" is a dark a treacherous path few emerge from the same.

It sounds like you're a terrific parent

your son is a fuckking idiot, and damn lucky as hell that he didn't get shot in the head.

I think you need to send him to military school to nip that crap in the bud

A 12 year old should not have the luxury of just picking there own company and deciding where and where they want to hang around. It's hard but can be done. The kid that had the gun should be reprimanded, and the parent of the said kid should be charged for negligence for not having the firearm locked up securely. It's honestly sad to read news like this whats the world coming too where guns are regarded so highly in the youth circles for bragging or what ever bragging rights etc. Glad the kid is ok... Could have been worse. Our prayers are with you and your family. Wish your kid a speedy recovery and hope he learns from this terrible mishap!
