Tough guy

Today, my 12-year-old son was shot in the foot. After hours of not talking, including to the police, he finally told us that his friend accidentally shot him with his dad's gun, and that he didn't want to say anything because he didn't want to "lose any street cred by snitching." FML

He is going down a very bad and dark path. You need to have a serious talk to him and cut this bullshit out fast.

"The only thing that can stop a bad kid with a gun, is a good kid with a gun." (W. LaPierre)

We're not really quoting that idiot now, are we? And before people jump down my throat and a gun debate ensues, I think just about all of us can agree that the notion that gun violence stops gun violence isn't exactly logical.

I should probably add that I understand you were joking by replacing 'guy' in the original quote with 'kid', but I don't think he should be quoted in any situation.

Quite the contrary. You got the intention of the quote. I think the only way to properly deal with him, is to take the stupidity and just max it out. Don't worry for my next paragraph I will get thumbed down/moderated. My "favorite" LaPierre moment in that debate was the concept of armed guards and teachers in schools. Just try to picture it. An armed wacko enters the school at noon, the armed and trained guard/teacher confronts him and they have a shoot out. Both side are armed with (semi-)automatic assault weapons ofc. That was basically the solution LaPierre suggested.

Oh thank goodness, I thought I was going to buried by an angry mob. Yes, I absolutely agree.

Assault weapons are select fire, capable of full auto/burst, as well as select fire. The machine gun stamp act (may not be the correct name, I apologize if I'm wrong) made these nearly impossible to own. The scary black rifles people are trying to get banned have more in common with hunting and target rifles than the actual military weapons that they resemble.

Out of curiosity. What on earth do you need those guns for exactly? I mean, I can't see anybody going duck hunting with those.

#68 Protection. I've never owned a gun until I had a kid. ( She's 8 months old). I constantly see too many events of people breaking into homes wanting to steal items and children, even kill people for the hell if it. Needless to say, I rest a hell of a lot better at night knowing that if anything were to happen I could protect my girl.

I can respect that, 70. But what I'm saying isn't "guns are bad and you should feel bad, mmmkay?" I'm fine with people owning guns like pistols and rifles and such. But why on earth would somebody need an AR-15 or any other automatic assault rifle to defend themselves or to hunt? Earlier this year Los Angeles did a no-questions-asked gun turnover, and weapons like M-16s, AK-47s and ******* RPGs were handed in. Who the ever loving **** needs all that? The gun control most people are looking for isn't the seizure of all weapons that fire a bullet, it's just weapons that people honestly have no reasonable need for, and restrictions on being able to buy weapons at gun shows without a license.

And you need an assault rifle for that? Sorry, I explicitly asked for those. On a more general note, I bet your perceived threat is way bigger than it should be on a rational level. Just try to name 5 incidents of that kind that happened in your neighbourhood, your city, your state, that involved people breaking into homes of families and actually doing harm to the inhabitants. If put those incidents in relation to the population size, I would be surprised if even 0.1% was actually affected by that (not talking about burglaries in general, which usually involves breaking into an EMPTY house, grab anything of value you can find and leave). Burglars are neither interested in your personal stuff (unless it's of material value), and even less in meeting you. They want to make a quick buck. Get in and out in way less than 30 minutes. Meeting famlies are just a delay and increases the chances of getting caught.

Odd, the "semi automatic" ban that the radical leftists have been after covers 2/3 hunting rifles, over 3/4 of pistols, almost all weapons used by armored car guards and local police departments. The AR 15 is not automatic, its just styled like one. Why? It's a well balanced, accurate, light design. The situation of an armed police or security officer in a school when a crazed nut job comes in and starts shooting is worse than letting him murder everyone how? Logic and gun control are mutually exclusive concepts it seems.

Well I'm not a "radical leftist", TheDrifter. I thought you would've known that by now. And I suppose I was misinformed in terms of the gun type that an AR-15 falls under. I've already stated my view above, and with all due respect, I'll stand by it.

Isn't that only half the story with the AR 15? I thought it was one of those "semi"-automated guns, you can "upgrade" to fully automated. At least that's what I read somewhere. I assume that modification is even in the most gun friendly states illegal, but if you have made up your mind to do something horrific, then that would be the least of your concerns. The hunting rifle and handgun myth never gets old, as if any congressmen with the faintest desire of re-election would go that far.

Anything can happen at anytime or to anyone. If you ask people affected if they thought anything like that would ever happen to them and they'll tell you 'Not in a million years'. Point is, you never ever know. Shit, my house has been broken into in the past 5 years 4 times. Besides if you wish I will give you way more than 30 similar occasions of things that have happened in my neighborhood in the past 2 years. My neighborhood is not the best but I am unable to move. If you don't have kids you will not understand. If/when you do you will see where I am coming from. Overreacting? I believe not.

Also, some people see it as a hobby. My boyfriend is one of those people. He shoots at targets, not people and that does not make him a bad person nor should he feel bad about it. It gives you an adrenaline rush and relieves stress.

mansen 15

shooting targets is fun and stress relieving. But, my biggest annoyance is people that bitch and whine about magazine limitation. here there is a 5 bullet magazine limitatiin for certain guns and ppl whine about it. Really? so you have to stop and reload your clip? awwww so sorry. High capacity magazines are idiotic and are dangerous. Lower capacity can actually save lives...the gunman runs out of bullets sooner, has to pause to change clips or reload. Those seconds are valuable in ppl being able to escape or law enforcement being able to take down said gunman. But no, ppl still whine about being able to have their 'right' to have more bullets in their magazine for 'convenience' because who is the big government, anywhere, to infringe upon their rights. I have target shot with my dads semi auto pistol. I admit, it is fun, trying to get the skill to slow your body and mind down to get the perfect shot (and aim better than the old man lol) and reloading constantly is a pain in the butt, but so what? So is having to clean up my dogs shit in the backyard everyday. I chose the ownership, I take the responsibilities. sorry for the rant.

You can upgrade pretty much any semi-automatic firearm to fully automatic if you've access to a machine shop and have the skills. Not just civilian AR15's and other EBG's (Evil Black Guns) that just happen to resemble the militarized versions.

That's because your son knows that snitches get stitches.

My dad doesn't keep locks on his/our guns. We have a total of 25 guns too. Most are loaded. I never mess with them because my dad teaches me they aren't toys and respect them by taking me shooting. It's how you are raised around them that makes the difference

I agree. Some parents don't stress gun safety enough

RedPillSucks 31

Well, if everyone played by the rules, we wouldn't be having this debate. There are lots of kids that will find an unlocked gun an play with it, despite what their parents might have warned them about.

25 guns? Is your family doomsday preppers? Why so many guns?

mrsnugglefunny 10

At least he won't get ****** up for snitching in the future prob

It's a shame that we can try and ban guns, yet we allow idiots like the OP's child, his friends, and the idiot parent that didn't teach his kid about gun safety to live.

I think gun safety is the first thing they tell you about at a gunstore, it's just people, and gangsters, who honestly have that, "I'm a fuckig awesome person I have no use for common sense" BS that I happen to see eery F'en day on the news, it saddens me.

You need to have a long talk with your son before something bad happens again
