Well, dump him. I always dated with educated persons, if you don't share the same intellectual interest and capacity, you can't understand each other. If the other person doesn't read, you will most likely sound like an alien for them - and vica versa. Tried once, only going for looks, never again. (If there were mistakes - sorry, I'm not a native speaker. Immortal question just sounded good to me, for example.)
You should tell him, "So my children won't have to be fathered by a dumb **** like you."
I voted that you deserved it, I feel bad now, maybe I should have kept my opinions to myself, sorry
I could never be with someone who didn't enjoy reading. I love to read, and own probably 500 or more books. If we don't share that basic interest...well, what's the point?
I can deal with people who don't like to read. But I absolutely love it. I can buy a 400page book and read it in a day if I'm that intrigued by it. I get caught up in the story, and feel like I'm part of the book, like I'm actually there. Some people just don't have the mindset, or imagination, to let themselves get lost in a book.
Hahaha you would not believe the amount of people who ask that question.
What were you reading? I mean if your reading something stupid like "50 shades of Grey" then I would ask you the same question?
So you turned him around and locked the door behind him right? That is crazy. But I do know people like that.
Run very far away...
He could have meant it as in "why, specifically, do you like to read?" As in what types of books, or what forms of knowledge you wish to acquire from reading them; perhaps as a way to start a conversation. However, from the way this FML is worded, it sounds like he made the comment derisively. Personally I love reading and if someone insulted me because of it, I would run away fast.

I don't think I would be able to be with someone who could utter that question in a serious manner.
I feel you OP. I love reading, to me they're better than movies because you feel like your right there and you can let your imagination run wild. It's a shame some people don't see reading the way we do.
