Today, I felt really depressed so I decided to go to McDonald's, get a sundae and cheer myself up. I got pulled over by the cops on the way, and was given a ticket for an expired registration. McDonald's was closed. FML

DMV sends you reminder letters for your registration, which you can renew online for several dollars cheaper than visiting the building. You really can't expect anyone to feel bad for you for not doing something you should remember to check on yourself, and were reminded by mail to do. McDonald's doesn't have a monopoly on sundae supplies. You could have gone to any store and purchased them.
