What's going on?

Today, my neighbour from across the road phoned me at work telling me there was a fire engine outside my house and a lot of smoke. I drove home in a panic, smashing a rear light on a post and getting flashed by a speed camera. It wasn't my house. The firemen were putting out a bonfire next door. FML

Today, my house caught on fire. After it was put out, I realized the damage wasn't bad, mainly smoke damage. I went to my parents' for the night because my house smelled. While there, I received a phone call from my neighbor. Apparently, my house caught fire again. It's now a pile of ashes. FML

Today, at 2:47 am, my mom woke me up in a panic screaming about smelling gas and the house blowing up. Twenty minutes, two fire trucks, and a traumatized dog later, it was just the neighbors burning their mail. FML

Today, looking out of my window, I spotted a fire raging in the building across from my apartment. Grabbing my phone, I dashed out to the balcony, only to slam into the screen door instead. After calling 911, I sprinted back out, only to clock the door a second time. FML

Today, a guy I been seeing went to work and left me in his house. As I made a bagel, it burned, the smoke alarm went off. This activated a call to the fire department but I didn’t know. The fire truck showed up. Little did I know, the guy’s family was outside too, just to see what had happened, thinking I'd broken in. FML

Today, I was at my friend's house. It was dark and downpouring so I couldn't see as I was backing out of his driveway. I made it out, but then my phone went off, scaring me, and I accidentally hit the gas pedal, hitting his neighbor's parked car. Turns out he called to warn me to watch out for it. FML

Today, my smoke alarm went off. In a frenzy, I called 9-1-1 and exited my house. Several minutes later a fire truck showed up. After investigating, one of the firemen informed me I needed to change the batteries in my smoke alarm. FML

Today, my girlfriend and I were getting it on, and listening to loud music when she suddenly looked worried and asked if I heard something. I said no and continued. Moments later, three firemen opened the bedroom door and told us to get dressed and go outside because the building was on fire. FML

Today, police knocked on my door in middle of the night. They said there was a fire in one of the houses in our street, so they were evacuating houses. They wouldn’t let me go back and get dressed. As I was only in my underwear, they told me I could wait in their car. FML

Why would you rush home when the firefighters are already there and there is nothing you can do? As far as running the red light goes, you deserved the ticket for being stupid.

Well, if you hear your house might be on fire, what would your first reaction be? Calmly drive home and see what happened? She might've overreacted some, but I can understand why. FYL, OP.

Seeing as the OP is from London, she didn't overreact. With all the crap that's going on atm, she could have returned home to find her home had become a target of the looters, and then set on fire after they were finished. It's pretty scary to think that cities all over your country are being destroyed by kids with a broken cause.

I don't think OP was overreacting at all, especially if there are riots going on in London. Yes a fire truck could have been parked there for various reasons, but the neighbor also said he/she saw smoke. If there was a bonfire next door, of course it would look like smoke was coming out of OP's house. So to everyone saying OP is overreacting, I'd like to see you actually ignore such a warning if you were in the situation like you say you would.

First of all... yah done goofed. second of all, take a deep breath before you freak out. if you have to scream at the top of your lungs, then do so. People might think you are crazy, but hell. As long as you are calm enough to think things through before putting you pedal to the metal, then you should be fine. You gotta worry about your life first, before your monetary possesions.
