Oh, deers!
Welcome to union jobs OP. you can't fire the idiots because that's discrimination, so every workplace has a few just to meet the quota.
Fish is correct for multiple animals of the same species. Multiple species is fishes. She wasn't actually wrong.
Actually, fish is the plural of fish and fishes is used to say many species of fish. So a goldfish and an angelfish are fishes while two goldfish are fish.
Where did the phrase sleeping with the fishes come from?
Gangsters.
yup
maybe she didnt get paid big buck for getting the gramma correct, she got paid big buck for the way she communicates
I hope you don't get 'big buck' for the way you communicate.
I don't know if someone said it already, but I actually learned this in my biology course for this semester. Fish is the plural if its the same kind of fish; fishes is to be used when discussing multiples of different fish.
Nine people pointed that out before you did. Maybe read at least some of the comments before you post.
Fish is only if it's a group of fish. Fishes is if it's a bunch of diffrent fish. So, 'a school of fish' and 'there are so many omega rich fishes to choose from, which one should I pick for my dinner?'. OH DAMN everyone has said that. But i guess we all know why the girl gets paid more than you, eh?

Fish and fishes are both acceptable plural forms of "fish"; well that's what magic schoolbus told me!
Fishes isn't exactly wrong, sweetie.
