Everyone starts somewhere, keep at it and you'll get better
Maybe it wasn't your all-time peak performance, but it sounds like an improvement nonetheless.
Feeling like you're being made to do more than you can handle is a surefire path to resentment and quitting. Go at your own pace. Some exercise at a lower pace is better than none, because you got frustrated and lost all motivation, y'know? Also - You are aware of your own tolerances/limits better than anyone else - Trying to push yourself too hard could lead to you hurting yourself and thus being forced to reduce/stop all exercise until you heal, which doesn't exactly help with your goals, whatever they may be.
