Today, my wife heard that Wi-Fi could be harmful for our newborn baby's undeveloped brain box. Her solution was to switch the Wi-Fi off on our laptops. She won't listen to the flaw in her plan. FML

Besides the fact that wifi is most likely harmless, I don't see the flaw in the plan. A wireless router is not like a radio tower, broadcasting a constant signal. If there are no computers connected to the network, there will be no packets to transfer, so the router has nothing to broadcast.

sorry this is wrong. Your router constantly broadcasts a signal. She'd have to shut off the wifi on the router not just shut off the wifi on the laptop.
