People who say, "I could care less," is somewhere near the top of my list of pet peeves. If you could care less then why don't you?
Couldn't agree with you more... Though I sympathize with them, It doesn't make sense to say it that way.. I figured that one out on my own.. Guess I'm just a smart cookie.. ... Sometimes.... Your weren't wrong. Your boss just doesn't know the origin of the phrase. Grammatically it should be like your boss says: "I couldn't care less." That makes sense and all - but the phrase is a shortened form of a much longer phrase back in the old country (England). It was shortened to the now commonly used and misunderstood form that you correctly used: "I could care less".
