Can't you see?

Today, I was working at a restaurant. This guy comes up to the counter and asks if he could have some toothpicks. I told him they were right in front of him. He said, "Sorry, I'm blind." Thinking it was a joke, I laughed until he said, "No, seriously." FML

And then you apologized and everything was fine.

Should have told him you were blind, too.

Well first of all all, YDI. Who would joke about something like that? Geez, what happened to being a good citizen these days? All the guy wanted was a toothpick. You're such a jerk!

Are you retarded? People say "I'm blind" or " I must be blind" all the time when they don't see something obvious.

the op didn't ask if he was blind. the guy said he was and op assumed it was a joke, not serious. not a big deal.

I've had customers who weren't blind make a joke about being blind when they can't find something. If you get enough people saying it, you'll think anyone saying it is just joking. I've even had blind customers who didn't make it obvious that they were until they mentioned it (those people were rare, the blind usually wore sunglasses

I completely agree. I'm losing my vision. We have to wear sunglasses with my genetic disease to protect from UV damage and severe light sensitivity.
