Now really. I can understand MEETING someone online, and I can understand LDR's, and I can understand being in a relationship before you've met in person (thanks to the magic of telephones, webcams and various other technologies) and I can understand a combination of all three factors. I get all of this, and I think it's awesome since, as a dating method, it seems to do all right - especially in the "getting to know you" factor. (Judgey's friend: "Yeah, plus, most people spend their lives online anyway, so part of it isn't all that different to other kinds of dating anyway.") I do not, however, understand this. You say "Online Dating" which I would take to be some kind of combo of the above factors but seriously dude, check it out: if you go a year without seeing a photo or webcamming or getting a phone call or ANYTHING that might have revealed your partner's true identity, then that is really... weird. I mean, a year? Seriously?? This is kinda 50/50. Definitely FYL. I won't go so far as to say YDI but really now; if you're gonna do the thing, do the thing properly, ya know?

You should have at least attempted to initiate something at the couple month period, and even if you did, it should have seemed a little weird that the other person kept denying it, especially if you two are dating. I feel for you. I met the love of my life online, and we dated online for two years before I could finally move near to him. However, talking to someone that long without phone or webcam... is kinda silly...
