being in a play isn't gay. I've been in several plays/musicals and I'm not gay. in fact I actually met a girl I used to date at practices

You should be thanking your dad. Ya he doesn't get the acting thing and costumes and such but he DOES get that he loves you and accepts you no matter what and is not afraid to say it. That's huge.
