Disloyal!

By saywhat - 26/11/2010 03:28 - United States

Today, I was at my boyfriend's house for dinner with his family. His mom cooked up a steak dinner, except that I'm a vegan, but trying to be a good girlfriend, I forced it down. Upon his mother finding out I was a vegan, she called me "disloyal to my beliefs." FML

I agree with his mom. why couldn't you politely tell her that it was very nice of her to make dinner, but you're vegan and can't eat it?

Because, if you read other FMLs about vegans/vegetarians, you'll see dozens of people telling OP they should have just eaten it, and not complained to be polite.

Look again Danny. They'd say they were stupid for being a "vegan" to begin with. No one would tell the OP to eat meat, regardless of their beliefs.

That would be because veganism is a willful denial of millennia of human evolution. It is nothing more than a symptom of a deep seated, guilt based mental illness and therefore vegans deserve what they get. The Cree have a word for vegetarian, it means "bad hunter".

I don't deny human evolution or that meat is something we are meant to eat and you'll find a lot of vegans wouldn't deny it either. The main reason people are vegan is because of the abhorrent way livestock etc is bred, raised and killed. Factory farming was not an issue that was around millennia ago.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Such a sad world we live in...

That sucks.. I would of just told them.. they are not anyone special.. they would have most likely understood. o_O

You're ******* dumb this isn't ANYONE else's fault except for your own! YDI! Derp!

mmm murdered cow. my favourite! (for serious lol). I think if I tried to become vegan/ vegetarian, I would fail miserably the first time I saw a block of cheese or a cow that wandered too close to an open flame.

Should have let your bf eat the steak and made it clear you were a vegan beforehand.

wow, how could you eat it? after a few months of vegetarianism (95% vegan) i stand in the meat aisle at the supermarket and think to myself 'this is all a sick joke, surely no-one can stand to eat this stuff'. The fact that they do... wow, some people must have a really high disgust tolerance.

Arsonnist 3

Sooo... how was the tofurkey?

dynky 3

why do you assume i'm american? november 25th is just another day.

surely alot of people eat it.. that is why you are a minority and everyone makes fun of vegans

Arsonnist 3

You can eat it on any day. I won't stop you.

I'm a vegetarian and I wouldn't have eaten it. If I go to someones house for dinner I usually bring my own veggie stuff and they happily cook/grill it while they make their food. Besides, there's nothing wrong with politely declining it and explaining why. It wouldn't be the end of the world. *shrugs* Not really an FML.

Vegan and Vegetarian are two separate things.

Yes, they are two different things but their primary similarity is that NEITHER would eat steak.

well maybe if u wernt such a dumb bitch and ate meat like everyone else then u wouldnt have been in that situation

it's her choice, no reason to call her a dumb bitch. i love meat though!

Hmmm well you could of just told the mother why you couldnt of ate the meat >.> YDI
